A timber lengths pack is an excellent purchase for a number of reasons. For example…
Then we can make up a timber pack to suit your box making requirements!
To get you started, we recommend that you purchase a mixed timber pack, which has a variety of timber types, ranging from medium-to-high grade box making timbers.
The experience of using a variety of timbers across a number of boxes, will inform your preferences for future projects.
The pack contains six [6] lengths in a mix of box-grade boards, up to *900mm long x 100mm wide x 10mm thick, dressed-all-round [DAR] to 180 grit. All measurements are approximate.
*Note: Couriers have recently restricted the maximum length of a shipment to one metre with packaging.
We can also quote you for any of the following options, depending on timber availability:
Call us for a quote on a timber lengths pack for your special box making requirements.
On request, we make a timber pack for the Desktop box and a timber pack for the Trinket box. We can also make an order for the Special jewellery box. See the gallery for images of the finished boxes.
Please note: postage will be added to your purchase after we receive your order.
We try to maintain a stock of box making-friendly timbers. When you order your pack, we will call to discuss your requirements and let you know what’s in stock.
We can also make suggestions to help you on your box making journey. Like how to use particular timbers, what their properties are, combining timbers, and, how to finish your boxes.

The Ultimate cutter kit will get you started, from a carcass, to a completed box. The Ultimate cutter kit will also introduce you to the joy of making a box on a router table.
Each cutter has been thoughtfully chosen for a specific box making function…
01 Rebate cutter, TGRC1 B ½. Cut the trench for the base and the lid of a box. The rebate cutter cuts a rebate 4mm wide and 5mm deep [see also item #06]. [G]
02 Panel raising bit, TGPR 1 ½. This cutter creates a decorative inward curve on the lid panel. 32mm diameter, 4.8mm radius on top corners, 8° negative shear angle. [G]
03 Tenon cutter, TGTC 1 ½. Use this cutter in conjunction with the slot cutter to make a ‘frame-and-panel’ lid. 32mm diameter, 8º negative shear angle for a super clean cut. [G]
04 Slot cutter, TA700 3.2 M ½. This cutter will cut the slot to insert the tenon for the ‘frame-and-panel’ lid. Off-the-shelf slot cutter, 3.2mm cut, 51mm diameter.
05 Spiral cutter, TSRW 5.32. Use the spiral cutter to cut open the box with two passes to get crisp, clean edges. Off-the-shelf 4mm solid carbide down-cut spiral, 1/4″ shank.
06 19mm bearing for the Rebate cutter. Use this bearing first to make a shallow pass on the trenches for a box base and lid. Put on the small bearing to complete the job.

Prolong the life of your equipment and save money by following these simple steps.
[1] Bearings: Before every box making session, place a drop of sewing machine oil in the bearing to keep it moist. Do not use a drying agent like CRC. The bearing is not sealed, so sawdust and grime build up over time. If you don’t keep the bearing clean, it will seize, causing damage to the cutter and your template.
[2] Cutters: Scrub the cutter blades and the outside surface of the bearing with a toothbrush to remove resin and dirt build-up.
[3] Collet: Clean the router collet in the same way, placing a small drop of oil inside the collet to dissolve resin build-up.
[4] Grub screws: Regularly check that the grub screw in the side of the cutter has not vibrated loose. Alternatively, use a product like ‘Loctite’ to fix the grub screw in place. Hint: to glue in a grub screw, do it over a light coloured cloth on a table. Position the screw hole over the flat edge on the cutter housing. Place a small drop of ‘Loctite’ in the hole and screw in the grub screw.
All Gifkins Dovetail cutters are designed for use in a table mounted router, and should not be used in a hand held router. We don’t guarantee cutters against breaking. The spiral cutter in particular, has a fine tip and should always be used in the table with a fence.
Take extra care to note the feed direction of the rebate cutter. With all cutting operations, the feed direction is opposite to the direction of motion of the cutting tips (i.e. opposite the direction of the tips as they enter the work piece).
Bought the Gifkins router table top and didn’t get around to making the router table base? That’s easily fixed… purchase the table base with fittings to complete the table!

The large grub screw is 3mm high x 4mm diameter. See item G in the main image and the legend.
The large grub screw holds the collar onto the shaft of the cutter. It fits later model A10 cutters. Eventually all template cutters will have the large grub screw…easier to handle, and hopefully, easier to see!
The 2mm allen key fits the 3mm x 4mm grub screw.
